Mission Statement

IHS Fairplay aims to be the preferred global provider of maritime information to the shipping industry and strives to achieve the highest standards of product quality and customer service.

IHS Fairplay will invest time and resource to identify new data sources with the purpose of continually improving the quality and scope of the data and to seek partnerships with key sectors of the industry with the aim of delivering higher added-value to its range of products and services.

From traditional directories to sophisticated web-based services IHS Fairplay will endeavour to utilise the very latest technologies and to work within the industry to develop new products and services to enhance the business of our clients.

The Company

• May 2010 Lloyd's Register - Fairplay Ltd was transferred to IHS Global Limited, a company within the IHS group.
• March 2010 Lloyd's Register - Fairplay's products and services were rebranded IHS Fairplay.
• June 2009 IHS Inc. acquired Lloyd's Register's share making Lloyd's Register - Fairplay a wholly owned division of IHS Inc.
• March 2008 Prime Publications Limited was acquired by IHS Inc. (www.ihs.com).
• Lloyd's Register - Fairplay was formed in July, 2001 through the merger of Lloyd's Register's Maritime Information Publishing Group and Fairplay Publications Limited, an operating company owned by Prime Publications Limited.
  • Lloyd's Register traces its origins to the coffee house of Edward Lloyd, which, in the latter part of the 17th century, had become a meeting place for those with a professional interest in ships and the cargoes they carried. In 1760, the Register Society was formed and the first Register of Ships was published in 1764.
  • Prime Publications dates its origins from 1883 when it was founded by Thomas Hope Robinson. Later acquired by John Prime it has always been synonymous with the shipping magazine Fairplay International but also developed a series of databases which supported its maritime products.
    

IHS Fairplay is the only organisation to provide comprehensive details of the current world merchant fleet of 100 GT and above and a complete range of products and services to assist the world's maritime community.

With offices in the United Kingdom, Sweden, United States of America, Japan and Singapore, IHS Fairplay can satisfy international demand for information requirements on ships, companies, ports, global port callings, movements and news related services, as well as provide research and consultancy services.
